Lifting Up Jesus

Scripture: John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

Did you notice the change on the home page? Three words were added above the name of the church - "Lifting Up Jesus"...this is our theme for the year 2017. Above ALL things we will lift up Jesus! "Lifting up" means to exalt, to praise and to glorify - in other words we want to DRAW ATTENTION to Jesus Christ...

There are three ways we need to lift Him up:

1.) In the way we worship - in our singing, in our praying and in our sermon Jesus Christ must be exalted.

2.) In our ministries - whatever the ministry, it isn't about Mt. Pleasant Church, it isn't about the people involved...it is about Jesus at all times! Whatever you do, if you don't have Jesus in the spotlight then you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

3.) In our everyday life (this is a hard one, even for Christians) - we should lift Him up in the way we live our life. As you walk through your everyday life, can other people look at you and see Jesus in you? Are you exalting Jesus even when you are not at church on Sunday morning?

When we exalt Jesus and lift Him up a couple of things happen: saints get closer to Jesus and sinners get saved. So in 2017, we as a church, are making a commitment to "Lift Up Jesus" in all things, in all ministries and in all our lives...
