A Place Called There

Scripture: 1 Kings 17:1-7

1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

Elijah was a prophet of God and he knew that God would take care of him if he would just follow what God wanted him to do. God instructed Elijah to be at a certain place, a place where he would take care of all his needs, even the ravens would bring him food to eat.

We have a God today that will love you and take care of you, but are you where God wants you to be?

Remember, the same God that placed you "there" will take care of you "there."

A place called "there" is...

1.) A place of purpose - God has a place of purpose for everyone because everyone has a purpose in his glorious plan as we lift Him up and glorify His name.

2.) A place of provision - God will sustain you and take care of you. If God brought you to it He will bring you through it. You may never know what God can do unless you go where God places you. Remember, God took care of the 3 Hebrew children in the fire and He will take care of you.

3.) A place of power! When God puts you in a place you will see the power of God.

Sometimes God places you somewhere but then at some point He wants to move you on. We have to be willing to move...

If you want the purpose, the provision and the power of God we have to move and go "there" - and "there" may be the altar.
