Scripture: I Peter 1:17-19
vs 19 - But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Have churches today gone away from preaching about "the blood of Jesus Christ?" Have Christians today become too comfortable in their walk with God. Have they forgotten the blood poured out by God's own son Jesus Christ? The blood that saved all our souls...
Verse 18 says " Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;"....
But, what does 'redeemed' really mean? Webster defines it as to " gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment:"...that payment was the blood of Jesus Christ.
There are 3 things that we can look at with regards to Jesus' blood:
1.) The blood of Jesus is "pure" - Jesus was born of a virgin, meaning that he was not born into the human condition of inheriting the original sin. Jesus also went on to live a sinless life thus preserving his pure sinless blood. His pure blood purges us of our dirty sins.
2.) The blood of Jesus is "precious" - When we say something is precious (i.e. precious memories, a precious child, etc.) we are saying that there is no monetary value we could ever place on it. Peter says in verse 19 that the blood of Christ is precious, but have Christians today forgotten just how precious the blood truly is? We should be talking about it, preaching about it and singing about it every day!
3.) The blood of Jesus is "powerful" - As the old song declares 'There is Power in the Blood'! One drop of that blood can clean up the vilest of sinners. How do we know? Because He has done it time and time again. We are all sinners...saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Jesus poured out His pure, precious, powerful blood for each and every one of us...what have you done for Him lately?
