A Consuming Fire

Scripture: Hebrews 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
The definition for 'consuming' is the feeling of completely filling one's mind and attention. So as Christians, are we filled with God's consuming fire?
There are three points of God's fire that are relevant to everyone's life -
1. The fire of God is a revealing fire - we live in such a materialistic world, everyday of our life is filled with stuff and things, but the revealing power of God's consuming fire will strip away all of our worldly possessions and expose our true foundation.
2. The fire of God is a refining fire - Have you ever heard of the word "dross"? In Ezekiel 22:18 is says "Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they all brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver." The meaning of dross is the impurities that are left over after the refining process in silver and gold. We are all in the process of being refined by the fire of God...God believes each and every one of us are as precious as pure gold and he wants to complete us by refining us with his fire and turning us into the precious metal He knows we all are...
3. The fire of God is a reviving fire - Jeremiah (20:9) was called the 'weeping prophet' because even after he preached the Word of God to Judah they still refused to turn to Him. Discouraged Jeremiah said that he too would no longer preach the Word, but then he cried out saying 'But His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut in my bones'...
If we grabbed a hold of the fire of the Lord we would all be revived! Today's churches need to be filled with people who allow the fire of the Lord to burn through them...
